Digital storytelling is where you take a linear series of events and turn them into a multidimensional experience. You can use audio, music, video, and still images. Digital storytelling can be used with any subject, and it allows students to communicate and collaborate. Digital storytelling allows students to speak their minds and it also help improve their communication skills. Creativity and critical thinking are also used in digital storytelling. Students creativity is allowed to wonder because their resources are limitless. There are many free apps available for digital storytelling for teachers and students to use. A few are My Story, Toontastic, Book Creator, Telestory, and Pic Collage.

Here is an interactive bulletin board made by a fellow teacher candidate and I. This bulletin board meets the curriculum, and fits the standard, for kindergarten math. Students would be able to use this bulletin board to help them count forward, represent addition, and compose simple shapes to form larger shapes. The students would take each pizza slice with the pepperonis, count the pepperonis, and then place each pizza slice on the correct number using velcro. The students would also be able to make their own pizzas. The students would read each guest check, take one pizza slice per guest check from the folder, and stamp the correct number of olives and peppers on each pizza. After the students have finished stamping all 8 pizzas, they would then be able to scan the QR code at the top of the bulletin board. This QR code would link them to what their 8 pizzas should like look so they could check their work.
Ever since I was a little girl I have enjoyed helping others and I have always went out of my way to be there for anyone that needed me. I believe teachers should also enjoy helping others and always go out of their way to be there for their students. When I was in elementary school I did not want to go to school because I did not want to leave the comfort of my home. However, I was lucky to have teachers that were welcoming and made me feel at home at school. My teachers let me know that they loved me and were there for me if I was ever having a bad day, or just needed someone to talk to. These teachers made an impact on my life and I learned to love school, and still do to this day. I choose to become an educator because I want to impact the lives of children just like my teachers did mine. I want to show students that learning is fun and there are many different ways to learn. I want students to be excited to go to school and enjoy learning just as much as I do. Saturday, January 23, 2016
Hey guys, my name is Alana Needham! I am from Alexandria, Alabama, and I graduated from Alexandria High School in 2013. I have just begun an exciting new journey as a teacher candidate at Jacksonville State University and I cannot contain my excitement! When I am not going to school, I enjoy working at The Pizzeria located in Saks, Alabama. I also enjoying spending my time with my boyfriend, Miller, his 3 year old son, Kreed, and our dog, Polo. I love watching the young mind wonder, grow, and learn. I enjoy helping others and it makes me happy to see someone get excited when they learn something new or get something right.
